For his first album, the young Frenchman, Thylacine, uses music as the means for an extended journey. Aged just 23, this multi- instrumentalist expresses himself via electronic music, and his debut album recounts a journey aboard the Trans-Siberian express. It’s an enthralling musical odyssey that ends in China with the French Miracle Tour.
Utterly fearless, he plays as much as possible, improvises, has no hesitation in taking out his alto sax, and becomes physically involved with the music to avoid being slave to the machines. Laëtitia Bely’s graphic projection recall Soulages’ dark reflections, blurring even further the boundary between the dancefloor and the imagination. Thylacine makes us his travelling companions for this intimate, wild journey with its enigmatic goal.
