Urbanitis Forum | Building the City from the Bottom Up

Urbanitis Forum | Building the City from the Bottom Up

Organized by the Sino-French Research Center of Tsinghua University, Sinapolis and Dédale Agency, the Urbanitis Forum aims at encouraging the blending of French and Chinese creative and sustainable approaches regarding the city. Researchers, professionals, artists, social workers and decision-makers from both countries are invited to meet up and exchange opinions during 2 days in Beijing.

The 2016 Urbanitis Forum wishes to deal with the question of public participation in the urbanization processes in China and in France by declining this theme into the fields of urban planning, integration of migrants, environment, new technologies and art in the city.

Four exploratory panels will bring cultural, political and social actors in China and France together to talk about the "bottom-up",informal initiatives through which citizens appropriate the city, in order to turn it into a more enjoyable, sustainable, fairer and cleaner space. Through various approaches based on theoretical analysis as well as practical cases and concrete experiences, The Forum will reflect on how city professionals and public authorities can convey these citizen initiatives.

Besides the round-table discussions, six European agencies dedicated to culture, new technologies as well as urban and social innovation will present the Europe Creative Artizen Project and will propose an interactive workshop on the theme of art and culture in the city.
