The Francophone Cinema Encounters will be a great opportunity to exchange with the francophone film diretors.

Michel Ocelot will be in China from 24 to 31 March to present his latest film Ivan Tsarevitch and the Changing Princess. Claude Barras, a Swiss director will come to present his touching animation movie, My Life of Courgette, an acclaimed winner of two awards at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Maxime Giroux, invited by the Embassy of Canada, will bring his feature film Felix and Meira in five Chinese cities.

Born in 1973 in Sierre (Switzerland), Claude Barras studied illustrating and infographics at the École Emile Cohl in Lyon, and graphics at Ecal in Lausanne. A freelance illustrator, he has directed more than 14 short films. He lives in Geneva and works in Lausanne. 

Filmmaker from Quebec, Maxime Giroux began his career with short films. In 2006, his film Les Jours won the Best Short Film Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. 2008 saw him produce his first feature film Demain. In 2010, he produced Jo for Jonathan, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival. In 2014, Giroux presented Felix and Meira at the Toronto International Film Festival where he won the Best Canadian Film Award. Felix and Meira is on "Canada's Top Ten" list, the 2014 top 10 Canadian feature films selected by a seven-strong jury of directors and industry professionals.

Michel Ocelot is a highly distinguished French animator most famous as the director of the trilogy Kirikou. Over the course of his career, he has developed a style known for its use of shadow theatre. He is a well known representative of French animation, and has received a César for animation, a BAFTA and a Henri-Langlois Film Prize for animation and moving images.
