Bi-lingual Show/story workshop
By Abdellatif Targhaoui, Lin Lin and the L'Ivre de Contes theatre company

How can we transform our cities and our lives? Are there possible alternative ways to organise a city? How can we eliminate pollution from our cities? What place do children have within the city? Welcome to your city will help you answer these questions. Aimed at a young audience, this project by the L’Ivre de Contes theatre company consists of a story-telling workshop, a show, and a “mimed conference”. These bilingual offerings events from the cooperation between Abdellatif Targhaoui (a Frenchman, originally from Morocco) and Lin Lin (a Chinese French-speaking woman).

About L’Ivre de Contes
L’Ivre de Contes performs both in France and abroad (Morocco, Switzerland, Canada, and China). The company offers a range of shows, encounters, workshops and animations based on the arts of story, theatre, music and writing. The company’s audience includes children, adolescents and adults, as well as old people, disabled people, newly arrived immigrants, and people encountering social difficulties. The company is sensitive to the surrounding environment, and delivers performances that are playful, educational, interactive and musical.

About Abdellatif Targhaoui
Originally from Morocco, Targhaoui currently lives in France. A storyteller, actor and musician, he uses humorous, moving, and interactive shows to bring his stories to life. The shows are for people of all ages. He also creates and hosts workshops teaching “improvisation in storytelling” and how to “learn French through tales”. He is at the helm of a partnership with musicians from Morocco (Maalem Gnawa), France (a musician from the Cirque Plume) and Senegal (a kora player and traditional storyteller, or griot).

About Lin Lin
Lin Lin, who trained as an interpreter, lived in Paris for ten years where she worked as a professional interpreter and amateur actor. Upon returning to Beijing, she specialised in cultural and artistic interpreting. It was in this role that she met Abdellatif Targhaoui, and together they created their bilingual storytelling act. As well as her in depth knowledge of spoken French, Lin Lin has a love of theatre, and her improvisation skills feed off her quick retorts. The performance can be understood even if the spectators have no knowledge of one of the languages.
