For an Ecological Urban Development : Sino-French Forum and Site Visits on Chongming Island

The East China Normal University's Institute of Urban Development will offer a visit of Chongming island off the Shanghai shore, where the Dongtan eco-city project was revived as part of the urban planning project "Shanghai 2040". The concept of the island responds to the will of creating a new city that is completely autonomous. With a view to taking stock of the situation and solutions envisaged in an increasingly critical environmental context.

The next day, East China Normal University will host an international forum. French and Chinese experts and representatives of companies in the field of ecology and town planning will be invited to participate in seminars and exchanges involving the actors in sustainable development (decision makers, institutions, professionals, public). Focusing on the themes of green planning, managing green innovation in urban and rural areas, protecting water resources, technological innovation and other civil responsibility issues, this event will promote long-term exchanges and cooperation between China and France in the field of ecology, stimulate public awareness of the struggle to protect the environment, and explore new forms of cooperation.
