Law and Circular Economy

International colloquium on the modification of the "Law on the promotion of circular economy in People's Republic of China"

The term "circular economy" corresponds to an economy based on the recycling of materials. This concept was born in the early 60’s, and led China to promulgate the “Law on Promotion of Circular Economy of People’s Republic of China” in 2008. But Chinese economy and ecological situation of today do not allow any more an effective application. Consequently, the Standing committee of the popular National Assembly began a process of revision of the law, integrating into this general reflection the various ministries, as well as experts of the domain of the industry, sciences and technologies and university specialists, to give rise to a legislation with solid scientific bases. Thus the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences suggests participating in this new elaboration of the law in a day of colloquium gathering experts of the institutes of economy, law and environmental law of universities of France and China, as well as representatives of companies investing in the green energies and members of the local and governmental authorities. The results of the various conferences and discussions will be subjected to the reading of the national Congress of the people and the concerned ministries, to solidify the scientific bases and participate in a relevant modification of the "law on the promotion of circular economy".
